Churches planning to re-open for communal worship during Phase 3 of the easing of lockdown must follow the Scottish Government Guidance for the Safe Use of Places of Worship. This includes the requirement to carry out a Covid-19 risk assessment.

We have created a template for preparing an appropriate risk assessment for your church. It is important to think through this in the context of your own church and make additions and adjustments so that it is relevant and fit for purpose in your setting. It is also important that the leadership team, as trustees, are aware of this and ensure it is acted upon.

There are many further helpful resources for preparing a risk assessment. These include guidance on creating risk assessments from The Health and Safety Executive and model risk assessments from The Baptist Union of Great Britain and The Church of Scotland.

Prayer

Prayer is at the heart of our Union. The prayer calendar is a framework to help individuals or congregations pray for all our churches throughout the year.  Every Sunday evening several hundred people from our churches across Scotland join in our National Prayer Livestream.
