National Prayer

Isaiah 4:5 “Over all the glory will be canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day and a refuge, hiding place from the storm and the rain”. We are praying that the glory of the Lord will be known across our nation

NATIONAL BUS 24/7 PRAYER WEEK: 7 – 14 NOVEMBER 2025

Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing” … that seems like both an inspiring and overwhelming challenge! But what if we were able to do that TOGETHER, across all our churches, involving every person who names Jesus as Lord so that together across Scotland we could pray without ceasing?

What if we were to participate in our very own BUS 24/7 Prayer week on Nov 7-14th 2025…

We are grateful to 24-7 Prayer for sharing their software resources with us so that we can easily sign up for an hour/ an hour per day/ a whole evening of prayer- whenever suits you and your church. You can encourage people to sign up as individuals (especially those who love praying in the dark hours of the night!) and you can sign up as a church together for different slots. No slot is exclusive so many of us can be praying at the same time.

We have broadly themed the times if that’s helpful for you to have a focus but feel free to do what suits you best. We are also able to send out emails with specific content too nearer the time. It would be so amazing to know that for that week in November we are praying intensely across the nation at this time.

At the end of this week on Friday 14th November is our National Prayer Gathering which this time is at Glenrothes Baptist Church (as part of our Autumn Gathering) – everyone is welcome as we join in person to pray, worship and seek God together.

Lisa Holmes, BUS National Team

BUS Autumn Gathering will take place this year on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November, at Glenrothes Baptist Church, Fife.

This National Prayer gathering is a brilliant opportunity for us to gather again in prayer, to encourage one another and discern the voice of God together as a network and family of churches.

Friday’s prayer gathering is open to everyone and we would love you to join together with us for this inspiring evening, no booking required. There will be more details to follow, particularly for the Saturday Gathering which includes the AGM and will require churches to book delegates in- we would strongly encourage all those attending on the Saturday to also join for the Friday evening National Prayer Gathering as we recognise the significance of national prayer laying the groundwork for our gathering.

FOR EVERYONE //  31 MAY – 8 JUNE 2025

Launched at Canopy 2025 from Denny High School and concluded on 8th June – Pentecost Sunday

We invited you to choose a day/time that suits you and commit to praying for the place God has put you – for some of you it was around where your church is situated or a neighbourhood where many of your church live, or an area God placed on your hearts.

It was amazing to hear stories, see your photos and find out the fruits of what God did in and through us that week.

We would love to share updates so will you send in a few photos or a wee video of yourselves and what you’re praying for to Lyndsay: lyndsay@scottishbaptist.org.uk

FOR EVERYONE: 6 MARCH 2025

Our first Online National Prayer Zoom of this year was on Thursday 6th March at 7.30pm and we were so encouraged that over 100  churches joined to pray together – this has been a really positive experience of how zoom helps us to pray together from every village, town, city and island across Scotland.

FOR MINISTERS AND LEADERS: 3 MARCH 2025

The last 2 years, in partnership with the SBMF, we have had a week’s Prayer Intensive and we were so encouraged to do this again together.

During that week we invited ministers and leaders to join us at 8am and 1pm to pray for 30 mins with a particular focus for each day (Monday to Thursday)

  • Monday – Young People and Younger Generations  / Education

  • Tuesday – Government and Governance / Church leadership

  • Wednesday – Evangelism and Church Planting / Community outreach

  • Thursday –  Pastors and those in caring professions

We will post updates and more info on these events but if you would like to get more involved contact Lisa: lisa@scottishbaptist.org.uk
