Praying for our newly accredited ministers

By Ivy Young, BUS Ministry Administrator

At our annual gathering, we would usually take the opportunity of welcoming our newly accredited ministers onto the stage to be presented with their certificates.  It is a privilege to pray for those who have worked hard to complete their pre-accreditation studies and continue to prioritise continuing ministry development alongside their faithful service in their varying ministry roles.

During Canopy, we will celebrate and congratulate them in a slightly different format.  A short video from each will introduce them and present a short prayer for their ministry situations, which this year includes chaplaincy, church ministry and our BUS team.  We are delighted that Canopy will give the opportunity for many more of our Baptist family to join in prayer for their situations all over Scotland.

Praying for our Churches in 2021

I have been greatly inspired by our National Prayer Live gatherings over 2020 and we will be continuing this on a monthly basis into 2021. It is so good to unite together in prayer for our churches, our nation and our world.

2021 – Hope

2021 – Hope

Having crossed the threshold of a new year, with or without a lump of coal, what is it that we cherish as our hope for the months that lie ahead?

Carols by Torchlight in Newton Mearns!

Carols by Candlelight would normally be a highlight during Advent for many people within in our community and church family but like many things in 2020 it just was not possible to have such an event within in our building. Rather than being discouraged we felt enlivened to create something new and different that everyone could participate in outside of the building and so Carols by Torchlight began to take shape.

Prayer

Prayer is at the heart of our Union. The prayer calendar is a framework to help individuals or congregations pray for all our churches throughout the year.  Every Sunday evening several hundred people from our churches across Scotland join in our National Prayer Livestream.
