Each month we have the pleasure of hearing from the lovely Mae, our Training Hub and Comms Assistant, sharing what is going on inside the realm of Training Hub and what they have been learning and doing over the last few weeks….
‘I am delighted to be back with an update from Training Hub as we have had a fantastic month. We have embraced the pattern of hybrid meetings and met twice online and once in person, each occasion being a fruitful and friendship-building space of discipleship and learning.
We were blessed to have teaching from Lisa Holmes on Spiritual gifts. Our trainees come from different church (or non-church) backgrounds with different levels of experience and exposure to teaching around Spiritual gifts and so it is always amazing to see the journey that they go on over the course of the year, from first looking at prayer and the Holy Spirit in November, to having this session halfway through the course. We hope to see them grow in confidence in the truth that the Spirit lives in each one of them.
We also met in Portobello to hear from Glenn Innes on the subject of culture, why it matters and how to read it. The trainees loved going out into Porty and observing the cultures of the area – we came to the conclusion that we were more at home with the culture in a coffee shop than a bookies! Sadly it was a pretty dreich day so no running into the sea for us this time.
We also got the opportunity to hear from Stuart Ringland who shared with us about money and generosity. The trainees found it really helpful to engage with something that we all have to deal with everyday and that can be a source of stress, fear, or pleasure for us all. We were challenged to explore biblical narratives around wealth and poverty and we were especially inspired to live generously.
The heart behind each of these sessions is to equip our trainees in their walk with God to increase in their knowledge and love for Jesus and live out Kingdom-centred lives. I want to thank all of you who have kept us in your prayers and we would love it if you would continue to pray for the trainees and the team that we would be led by Jesus in it all. Pray especially for one of our trainees, who has just had their first child, and another of our trainees, who is going to be moving from Florida to Scotland this month, as these are both significant moments in their lives. And that truly is one of the joys of Training Hub – that we get to share in such amazing moments in people’s lives as we journey together in faith!’
