We recently heard about the Starlight Cafe, an outdoor space created for the coffee and fairy light lovers around Cathcart Baptist Church. Cara, Alison and Karen had a vision for the community, and share below one year down the line…
“About 1 year ago 3 women enjoyed a coffee and a chat in a lovely Shawlands coffee shop. Slightly sad about the lack of places to enjoy more coffee of an evening, and being aware of the covid guidelines to meet outside when possible, the idea of a pop up garden cafe was discussed and a caffeine fuelled plan was tentatively formed.
On the first night the gazebos went up, the lights were switched on, the place looked great. Would people come and join in or would there only be a small band of hardy caffeine addicts? As it happened the intrepid 3 were not the only hardy caffeine addicts.
Much coffee was consumed and chats were had. And so The Starlight Cafe came in to being.
One year on, having survived every single type of weather Scotland could throw at them, the only question was – How to celebrate their first birthday?
