  3. We Took our Frustrations to God in Prayer…

31 Jan, 2025

Over the last few years we have been, as a network, pursuing God’s call to Increase, but what do we do when there appears to be limited signs of growth or movement?

Rev Dave Lazonby shares a story of encouragement from Newton Mearns Baptist Church, around the difference it can make when you take questions, frustrations and uncertainties to God in prayer…

“In summer 2024 we had a sense of prayerful frustration. “Why are there no young people getting baptised in NMBC?”

It created questions… Was it something we were doing wrong – in our program or our approach? Were we failing to offer the challenge of the gospel clearly enough? Were we simply creating a space where young people felt comfortable without helping them encounter Christ and find new life in him?

We took our frustrations to God in prayer.

And… within the week one of our teenage boys had a dramatic encounter with Jesus that would change his life, help him know that God is real and get him talking to his friends and church family about his new-found faith.

We’ve recently baptised another young person, at the start of her university course and are delighted to have 5 more young people discussing baptism with us.

We’re praising God that what we cannot do, he can do – convict hearts, change lives and bring new life!”
