STAFF CHANGES

This summer, after ten years of service, our General Director, Martin Hodson, felt the call to move on from his role with the Baptist Union of Scotland. During his time in post, he has led with wisdom and steadiness through significant seasons, including the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the formation of our current national team, and the launch of the Increase vision. We are grateful for his leadership over the past decade and the contribution he has made to our shared life as a union of churches.

Andrew Clarke, BUS Leadership Development Lead has also moved on from his role to focus on his health. Andrew spent 12 years at BUS shaping the leadership and training processes, the Board of Ministry involving the training and accreditation of ministers, and supporting churches through Lead Academy, amongst many other significant aspects of BUS life. We are grateful for the valuable contributions he has made and pray God’s richest blessing in this next season ahead.

We have also welcomed on board Marc Fraser who will be supporting the national team with Invest and much of the work relating to the Increase vision and our priorities of prayer, planting and pathways. Marc is working part-time in his role with us, whilst studying for his Masters and we are delighted to have him as part of the team.

GENERAL DIRECTOR RECRUITMENT

The Board of Trustees and Council gathered last week and have now appointed a new task group to oversee the next phase of the transition for recruitment of a new General Director. A robust job role review has taken place over the last few months, the recruitment pack is being finalised, and we will soon be ready to advertise for the appointment of the next General Director.

We will continue to keep churches informed as the process unfolds- an email was sent today to all churches from Stephen Haggan, Convenor to the Board of Trustees.

Please join us in praying for wisdom and discernment as a network of churches, and also for the recruitment task group, as we continue to seek God in this exciting next season for the BUS.
