One of the amazing charities that many of you in our Scottish Baptist churches have linked up with is Home for Good. Their Scotland Lead, Tamsyn Radmall, has worked as part of the team at Central Church, Edinburgh for several years, and very openly shares with us here some of her own experience and why, as a church family, it is so significant to welcome in those who are lonely…

“We are just through the festive season, which can be an incredible time for many families across Scotland. But, it can also be a really hard time for too many people, and often a new year brings with it new challenges. What could it look like for us as the Baptist church across Scotland to step up this year and choose to welcome people into family, to pray for those that have complex versions of family and to play our part in Gods plan for ‘setting the lonely in families’ (Psalm 68:8).

I have been on staff at Central Church for 7 years and recently moved on to oversee Home for Good Scotland and now be part of the team merging Home for Good with Safe Families in Scotland. It has been my joy to be part of Home for Goods vision in Scotland.

As the daughter of an adoptive dad and a mother from a complex home I have seen how much our experience as children affect who we are, but I have also seen the transformative power of the church when it choses to step up and be family for those that desperately need family.
I grew up with non genetic extended family, people that became my non biological aunties and uncles and grandparents. People who created welcoming spaces of stability for myself and my parents and it completely changed the trajectory of my family.
We are all called to play our part in building Gods kingdom and church in Scotland, what part is God calling you to play?”
