“Friends and strangers lifting our voices together, declaring “Amen” in Jesus’ name.” – Kim Miller from Lighthouse Community Church, sharing highlights from the National Prayer Intensive
“The Prayer Intensive week took place at the end of February, bringing ministers together across three days for times of joint prayer. Zoom gatherings were held at 8am and 1pm, followed by the National Prayer Gathering on Thursday evening.
I joined the call along with 73 other “screens”, representing many more individuals, families and church groups gathered to seek God together.
We began with worship – sometimes a risky thing on Zoom – but Marc led us brilliantly as we sang (muted thankfully!) and welcomed God’s presence into our time of prayer. It was a wonderful start and set the tone for the meeting ahead as being focused on Jesus, our Living Hope.
Lisa then invited us to pray for Here, there and everywhere, the theme of the week, as we listened to inspiring stories of God at work locally, across Scotland and around the world. Different leaders from across Scotland led us to pray beginning with ourselves, families and friends, then moving outwards to older folk in our communities; sports chaplains; the nation of Scotland; and finally asking God for the seeds of the gospel to be sown around the world – the only seed that can grow anywhere!
Some of these prayer times were shared as a whole group, while others took place in smaller break out rooms. I don’t always find it easy to pray out loud online, but the sense of connection was great – friends and strangers lifting our voices together, declaring “Amen” in Jesus’ name, and believing in unity that God hears and answers our prayers.”
