Training Hub, April Update

By Mae Moore

I can’t believe another month has been and gone at Training Hub already! Since last month’s update we were able to meet together in Glasgow to hear from Ruth and Stevie McLaren all around our Myers Briggs Type Indicator. One of our trainees, Rebecca, said ‘I went into this session having a rough idea what personality type and I was pretty insistent on being an introvert… Turns out I am extroverted!!  I learnt a lot about the different styles of each characteristic and how to best handle high stress situations with those of the opposite personality type. Overall it was a great day learning about the things that make us all tick.’

We also had a Wednesday night session all around the fivefold ministry we read in Ephesians 4. This was led by the incredible Rich Robinson who engaged with us so helpfully as for our trainees this was the first time considering to what extent they identified the apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, shepherding and teaching giftings in themselves. We were left with an increased vision for the maturity and unity of the church and the desire to continue to learn more about the fivefold ministry.

More recently, we have had our conference on Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, led by the brilliant Pam and Niall Fulton. As you can probably tell, we’ve had a bit of a theme this month of grappling with our identities and how we can be understanding and relating well to others for the sake of strengthening and encouraging the church and growing into Christ-likeness. The trainees really appreciated the space and tools to reflect on their emotional health and spiritual health and the space to pray through what God was highlighting in the sessions.

We really do believe that in order to raise up the next generation of leaders we need to be able to intentionally invest in them and journey with them as they understand and process big topics like identity and emotional health. On our Instagram we have been spotlighting stories of some of our former trainees and what they are up to now, as well as hearing from them something that really impacted them from their experience of Training Hub. It has been so encouraging to see the ways in which they are now leading and we hope to hear many more stories from them over the years as they step into all that God has for them!

If you think Training Hub may be right for you or someone you know, do get in touch with us at ali@scottishbaptist.org.uk or check out the website here: training-hub-invest. Thank you for your prayers for us and we ask that you do continue to pray for God’s blessing in the times that we are gathering together and that the trainees would continue to have moments of breakthrough in the lead up to the end of the course.
