Stories of Transformation – Baptism at Denny Baptist

This is a powerful story of transformation and baptism which has been written by Nicole Menzies from Denny Baptist Church. Nicole explains how she came to faith in Jesus and decided to get baptised, what a difference a relationship with Him has made in her life and what she is doing to serve Jesus in her local community.

Before surrendering my life to Christ, my mental health wasn’t great. I had been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and life was a rollercoaster. 2016 wasn’t a good year and life really challenged me. My mum and some other friends invited me to go along to church, by this time I was a closed book. I was very negative, yet Sunday after Sunday I found myself back at church. Sermons started to challenge me – I felt like I was the only person at church and God was talking to me, and only me – though I didn’t want to know, my walls were sky high.

It was on the 16th June 2018 whilst attending Will Graham’s Celebration of Hope event, that I surrendered my life to Christ. Just a few weeks later I made plans to become baptised! I was baptised on the 7th October 2018 and I also was completely healed. The walls were crumbled to the ground, I was free indeed, the chains had been broken!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7 NIV)

Friends and family were asking what was different. I was happy and on fire! I am free of an illness that kept me captive, I’m free of all medication, I am loved and worthy for I am a child of God and I hive Him the praise and glory. I serve the Lord daily and follow His guidance faithfully. I am now a Street Pastor, a Sunday School leader and I also volunteer with Teen Challenge. God guided me and called me to serve and I faithfully follow for He died for me, and all of us.
