Training Hub is a leadership and discipleship programme, facilitated by the Baptist Union, designed to enable you to become more transformed into the person God created you to be.
It runs over 10 months and is built on 3 key areas: discipleship, mission and leadership. We want to see you growing deeper in your relationship with God and others; making disciples in your local context, and to see you leading with vision and confidence the things God is calling you to.
Matthew 12:46-50
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” 48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
We are now roughly half way through the Training Hub course for our ’21-22 cohort and it has been an amazing journey so far. Although we have not been able to gather physically in person as much as we would like, we have seen silver linings to this as it has allowed one of our trainees to join all the way from Florida!
Training Hub is an opportunity for those who want to spend a year investing in their faith and leadership in the context of a discipling environment. As part of the Training Hub team, this week I have been reflecting on Matthew 12:46-50 and my prayer is that through this course our trainees will be encouraged to stand firm and embrace their identity as Jesus’ disciples and that by stepping out in line with the will of our Father they will know that they are called ‘brother’ or ‘sister’.
We have trainees that are doing the course alongside studying, work, or a year-long internship with a church. It has been brilliant that we have been able to get to know each other and offer support whether we are coming from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee or further afield.
In the next few weeks we have a few exciting sessions coming up, from exploring Spiritual Gifts with Lisa Holmes, to looking at culture with Glenn Innes in Portobello, Edinburgh. We are hopeful that as the year progresses we will have more opportunities to meet physically in person, and we are ready to celebrate when we do, as we have already been blessed by the teaching of Fiona Stewart in the discipline of celebration!
If you would like to pray for us then please do pray for our next few meetings this month on the 4-5th Feb, and 9th Feb. Pray that our trainees feel inspired and challenged and ultimately encounter God. Pray for wisdom for team and guests as they lead and pray for the future of Training Hub, that we would continue to see God meeting with and transforming people.
